Hosea is an enthusiastic, 23-year-old football fan from Kenya. While he almost never misses a game, his medical condition has greatly impacted his former lifestyle.
Since the beginning of May, Hosea has complained of stomach pains. After receiving medication that did not help his condition and an emergency surgery performed on his stomach, Hosea was referred to our medical partner’s care center, AIC Kijabe Hospital. There he was diagnosed with a pheochromocytoma, a hormone-secreting tumor, in his abdominal cavity.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $587 to fund a curative laparotomy for Hosea in order to remove his tumor. The procedure is scheduled to take place on June 19, and a contingency fund at the hospital will subsidize $433 of the treatment.
Hosea needs surgery, however he has no parents to assist him financially. Without treatment, Hosea will be at risk of the tumor growing, which could lead to potentially life-threatening hypertension.
Hosea looks forward to his recovery, saying, “I want to be well and go back to school. My younger siblings need me and it’s stressing to be in the hospital bed.”
