Tak Van is a four-year-old girl from Cambodia who has one sister and one brother. In her free time, Tak Van likes to spend time with her mother at home and play with other kids.
Recently, Tak Van has developed a hemangioma, a noncancerous growth, in her right cheek. The tumor is about 5 centimeters by 5 centimeters in size and has caused Tak Van to experience itchiness and pain.
Tak Van and her parents traveled for four hours to reach our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), for treatment. CSC is requesting $220 to fund the surgical removal of the hemangioma, which is scheduled to take place on June 21. Tak Van underwent mass excision surgery.
Tak Van’s treatment for her right cheek went well! She returned to CSC for a follow-up appointment. Her wound is completely healed. Tak Van still has a small mass under her lower eyelid. She is scheduled to return to CSC later this year for a follow-up procedure to remove the mass. However, if she has any problems before then she can return to CSC for free treatment.
Tak Van’s father says, “I am happy to see my daughter looking better and without pain. Thanks to all of the doctors, staff, and donations that have helped her.”
