Treva is a two-year-old boy from Kenya, who lives with his mother in a rented single-roomed house in Limuru-Central Kenya. She is employed as an accounts clerk for a small dairy firm. Her monthly salary is $50 and this barely sustains their basic needs, let alone pay for the surgery needed. Treva’s father left them before he was born.
Treva was diagnosed with cryptorchidism, a condition in which one or both of the testicles remains undescended. If left untreated, Treva has an increased risk of developing hernias, testicular cancer, and fertility problems in the future.
Treva will be receiving assistance from our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation (AMHF). Fortunately, he is scheduled to undergo corrective surgery on February 21st. AMHF is requesting $542 to cover the total cost of his procedure and care.
“I will appreciate help accorded towards my son’s surgical care,” says Treva’s mother.
