Horng is a 33-year-old woman who works in Cambodia as a farmer and a part-time construction worker. She is married and has three children. In Horng’s free time, she likes to cook, bake Khmer cakes to sell, and organize her house.
In July 2012, Horng was in an accident that left her with a fracture in her left femur. Surgeons at an emergency hospital performed an open reduction internal fixation procedure, placing hardware in her leg in order to realign and stabilize her fracture for healing.
Although her fracture has now healed, Horng feels some discomfort when she walks. Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is requesting $143 to fund the removal of the hardware in Horng’s left femur. This procedure is scheduled to take place on June 16 and entails a two-night hospital stay, supplies, and physician consultation. With proper treatment, Horng will hopefully be able to walk comfortably again.
