Meet Rina, an 18-year-old boy from Cambodia who is in the tenth grade. Rina has three brothers and two sisters. In his free time, Rina loves to play football and listen to music.
When Rina was six months old, he developed strabismus in each of his eyes. This condition causes his eyes to not be aligned properly and creates blurred vision. Rina feels embarrassed around his classmates and friends.
Rina heard about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), from a friend and traveled four hours with his grandmother to receive treatment there. Surgeons at CSC will perform eye correction surgery to realign Rina’s eyes and fix his blurred vision.
The procedure will take place on June 5, and our medical partner is requesting $264. With this surgery, Rina will be able to return to school without embarrassment, and his improved vision will allow him to continue to pursue his education.
