Lukumani is a curious and quiet two-year-old boy. Lukumani lives with his parents and five siblings in Tanzania. Both of Lukumani’s parents depend on farming to meet their day-to-day basic needs, and they can hardly afford to send all their children to school.
Lukumani was born with hypospadias, a condition in which the opening of his urethra is not located at the tip of the penis. His condition makes it difficult to pee standing up and introduces the possibility of further health complications as he ages.
Lukumani’s mom sought treatment through our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, where surgery was recommended to correct his condition. Lukumani is now scheduled to undergo this corrective surgery on May 3. Although his family is able to contribute $49 to the cost of his treatment, Lukumani is still in need of $986 to cover the rest of the expenses.
Lukumani’s father says, “I cannot afford my son’s treatment, please help him get better.”
