Chanthol is an 18-year-old chef and the youngest in his family of four older brothers and sisters. Chanthol’s parents are rice farmers. In his free time, Chanthol enjoys exercising, cooking and eating food, reading cookbooks, and researching recipes on the internet.
In September 2019, Chanthol was in a motor vehicle accident that caused a fracture of his right femur. He went to government hospital and doctors fixated hardware to heal of his fracture. Now, the bone is united and the hardware must be removed to stop future complications and infection.
Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), can help. CSC is helping raise $304 to fund this surgery on September 5th.
Chanthol shared, “I hope I recover soon and can return to work.”

Chanthol underwent fracture repair surgery.
Chanthol had successful surgery to remove the hardware from his healed leg. He rested at the hospital for several days and took antibiotics to ensure the surgical site does not get infected. The physiotherapist worked with him to regain strength and flexibility, and he is happy that the nagging pain in his leg will be gone. Chanthol can now stand all day at the restaurant where he works to support his family, and he looks forward to becoming active in sports again.
Chanthol shared: I am grateful to have the metal removed from my leg. I will get strong again so I can exercise and work to be a great chef. Thank you to the staff who helped me and to you for supporting my surgery.”
