Srey Ka comes from a poor farming village near the Vietnamese border. Her parents are both farmers. Her mom looks after the family’s chicken coop and her dad works at a nearby rubber plantation.
Srey Ka is a happy kid, but she suffers from strabismus, a condition that causes her eyes to be misaligned. Her condition makes it difficult for her to see, distorts her depth perception, and causes chronic fatigue.
Srey Ka is at the age where she should be focusing on school, but without the ability to see, it’s difficult for her to keep up. Her mother said, “I knew another mom in my village who took her son to CSC, and I wanted to bring Srey Ka here for help.”
In rural Cambodia, access to high-quality medical care is scarce. If left untreated, strabismus almost always gets worse, and can lead to permanent loss of vision. But CSC wants to prevent that. For just $250, they can provide Srey Ka with surgery to repair the muscles around her eyes and restore her vision.
