Mutesigensi is a 38-year-old small-scale farmer from Uganda. She is a mother of four, and all her children are still teenagers. Her first born is 18 years old and opted to pursue a certificate in catering. Next eldest are the 11-year-old twins who are in primary school class five and six respectively. Her youngest is 8 years old and in third grade. Their family is planning for a long way to go as far as paying school fees. Mutesigensi and her husband are farmers who produce majorly for home consumption. They own a three-room semi-permanent house for shelter.
For the last 13 years ago, Mutesigensi has been experiencing lower abdominal pains and she walks with difficulty. She has been diagnosed with chronic pelvic inflammatory disease. She needs to undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $228 to fund Mutesigensi’s surgery. On August 14th, she will undergo gynecological surgery at our medical partner’s care center. Once recovered, Mutesigensi will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain and her quality of life will improve.
Mutesigensi says, “I hope to live a normal life again through a surgery. I will resume my farming to be able to sustain and develop my family.”
