Saroem is a farmer from Cambodia. She has three sons, five daughters, and 18 grandchildren. She likes listening to monks pray on the radio.
Two years ago, Saroem developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her blurry vision, tearing, a clouded lens, and photophobia. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Saroem learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for two and a half hours seeking treatment. On August 13, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $211 procedure.
She says, “I hope I can recognize the faces of my grandkids and help my family with work after the operation.”
