Sreang is a 66-year-old farmer from Cambodia. She is married and has three sons and three daughters. In her free time, she likes to work around her home, cook for her family, and watch TV.
In May 2017, Sreang fell from her motorbike, which caused her to fracture her femur on the right side. She went to the health center in her province and a Khmer traditional healer for treatment, but her symptoms continued to worsen. As a result of this injury, it is difficult for Sreang to walk, and she is in pain.
Sreang heard about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), because her neighbor had been there before. Sreang traveled for four hours with her husband to reach CSC for treatment.
On July 14, surgeons at CSC will perform a hemiarthroplasty procedure, replacing one half of the hip joint with a prosthetic while leaving the other half intact, to help Sreang walk easily again. The $497 requested to fund Sreang’s treatment will cover the full cost of the procedure, including a seven-night hospital stay, labs, radiology, supplies, and surgeon time.
