Rathana is a preschooler from Cambodia. He has a brother and a sister. He likes watching cartoons, playing with toys, and playing soccer with his siblings. He likes to drink orange juice.
One month ago, he received a set of poorly administered injections, causing fibrosis of his quadriceps. He is unable to walk without pain.
When Rathana’s family learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, they traveled for three and a half hours seeking treatment. On June 7, surgeons at CSC will perform a quadricepsplasty procedure of his right leg to help him walk again. Now, Rathana’s family needs help to fund this $413 procedure.
“I hope my son’s surgery is successful and he can return home and to school soon,” says his father.

Rathana underwent repair surgery.
Rathana’s surgery went well and he’s been working with the physiotherapy team to improve the mobility and function in his leg. Surgery will allow Rathana to greatly improve his quality of life and allow him to walk and work without pain.
His mother said, “I am very happy with the results of the surgery. My son can walk well and I want to thank everyone for the support for his surgery.”
