Yek is a 38-year-old farmer from Cambodia. She is married and has five children—three daughters and two sons. When not working, she likes to watch TV.
In May 2010, Yek fell outside, causing her right hip pain. She visited the local hospital, where she was given medication. However, the pain persisted, so Yek sought out additional treatment at our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC). During that visit, she was diagnosed with osteoarthritis, a condition in which joint cartilage erodes, and was recommended for hip replacement surgery. At the time, Yek decided against treatment, but has since changed her mind.
On March 8, Yek will undergo hip replacement surgery at our medical partner’s care center, Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre. CSC is asking for $781 to cover the cost of her treatment.
After surgery, Yek will be able to walk easily again without pain!
