Serinah is a 37-year-old nurse at a local government hospital. Serinah is the second born in a family of five. She is married with three children. Serinah’s husband works as a clinical officer.
Serinah and her husband were highly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic as they had to support their extended family members who were infected by the virus. Serinah and her husband had to pay for expensive drugs and medical care that drained them financially. Serinah shared that she had to take loans to pay school tuition fees for her children and to meet their essential needs.
Due to the overwhelming task of paying off her loans and caring for her extended family, Serinah cannot afford to pay for a cesarian section that she now needs to safely deliver her baby. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $252 to cover the cost of Serinah’s c-section on May 19th.
Serinah shared, “I will be glad once I am supported. As of now, I cannot afford such expensive treatment due to pending loans that have made me too poor.”
