Sok Tivorn is a student from Cambodia. He loves action movies and soccer.
Two months ago, Sok Tivorn had an injury that caused trauma to his neck and arm. He has been diagnosed with a brachial plexus injury on his right side. The brachial plexus is a nerve network that transmits signals from the spine to the shoulder, arm, and hand. Injuries to this nerve network can result in loss of function and sensation. He is unable to lift his arm and he’s right-handed, so he hasn’t been able to write or do school work.
Sok Tivorn traveled to our medical partner’s care center to receive treatment. On September 4, he will undergo a brachial plexus repair surgery. After recovery, he’ll have greater mobility in his arm, and be able to finish his studies. Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is requesting $637 to fund this procedure.
He says, “I want surgery so I can use my arm normally again.”
