Athumani is a calm eight-month-old baby boy from Tanzania. He lives with his parents and siblings. Athumani’s parents work as individual small-scale farmers to support their family.
Athumani was born with bilateral clubfoot and spina bifida. He was referred to our medical partner’s care center, Arusha Lutheran Medical Centre (ALMC), where doctors first sought to address his spina bifida as a priority. While Athumani is no longer at risk for spinal damage, he still faces difficulties due to his clubfoot.
On August 4, Athumani will begin treatment for his clubfoot at ALMC. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is asking for $890 to cover the cost of his treatment, including surgery and cast fees.
“I am very grateful for the help and I am hopeful that Athumani is going to get well,” says Athumani’s mother.
