Kamariza is a woman from Uganda who has nine children, all of whom are married and work to provide for their families. Kamariza and her husband work as small-scale farmers in order to support themselves.
Twelve years ago, Kamariza was diagnosed with uterine fibroids. Doctors recommended that she undergo surgery to remove her uterus, however Kamariza could not afford to do so. Over the years, Kamariza’s abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding have intensified, and she was recently diagnosed with cervical cancer.
On June 22, Kamariza will undergo a hysterectomy. The $208 requested by our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, will cover the cost of the procedure, including supplies, labs, medications, physician consultation, and a four-day hospital stay. This treatment, once completed, will hopefully relieve Kamariza of her pain and greatly reduce the chance of the cancer metastasizing.
“I am glad to have gotten this support because I cannot afford any money for the surgery and I hope to have peace of mind after surgery,” says Kamariza.
