Sitha is a 68-year-old baker from Cambodia. She has six sons, one daughter, and twelve grandchildren. She is a devout Buddhist, so she enjoys reading religious books and listening to monks pray on the radio when she can’t go to pagoda herself.
Three years ago, Sitha developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Sitha learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for three-and-a-half hours seeking treatment. On August 03, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
Sitha shared, “I want to get back to making cake and being in the market. Once I am working again I can help support my grandchildren at home and help my family.”
