Ko Thaw, who is 27 years old, lives with his extended family in Burma. In early June 2022, Ko Thaw- who was working in a factory in Malaysia- developed a headache. Later that day, he also experienced chest pain, a racing heart, and an episode of vomiting. His employer brought him to the hospital, and after some testing, Ko Thaw was informed there was a problem with his aortic valve. He was given medications and a follow-up appointment. In January 2023, Ko Thaw's health deteriorated, and he was brought back to the hospital. An echocardiogram showed aortic valve regurgitation, and Ko Thaw was told that he would need surgery. His employer wouldn't pay for the surgery, and as Ko Thaw couldn't afford to pay for this on his own, he tried to manage his condition with medication. But when the medications stopped working, Ko Thaw decided to move back to Burma. Ko Thaw was referred to our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund. With their help, he is now scheduled to undergo mitral valve replacement surgery on May 14th at Pun Hlaing Hospital. For Ko Thaw, who currently experiences chest pain, insomnia, muscle stiffness, and headaches with fever, this surgery can't happen soon enough. Now he is seeking your help to raise $1,500 to cover the cost of his treatment. "I hope I can find suitable work soon after my surgery. I would like to say thank you so much. You all do incredible work for poor people who need assistance," said Ko Thaw.

Hannafy is a 13-year-old 7th-grade student from Cambodia. He lives in Kampong Chnang with his parents and two younger siblings. His parents work in construction and Hannafy cares for his siblings after school. He enjoys his Cambodian history class and hopes to attend university to become a Cambodian-Mandarin translator. In January, Hannafy and his parents noticed a mass growing near his two front teeth. Hannafy experiences pain near the growth and has missed several days of school due to it. Hannafy's parents are worried about the growing size of the mass. Hannafy traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On July 5, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), will remove the mass. Now, Hannafy's family needs help to raise $273 to fund this procedure. Hannafy said that he hopes that he can stop having pain and return to school without taking sick days.

Chambi is a one-year-old baby. Her parents are hardworking farmers, working day in and day out to provide for their family in Tanzania. Chambi was born with clubfoot of the left foot. Clubfoot is a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape. This causes difficulty walking and even wearing shoes. Concerned for their daughter’s well-being, her parents took her to the local referral hospital, hoping for a solution but it was beyond the hospital's scope of care. Chambi’s mother reached out to our medical partner Plaster House NGO, an organization renowned for helping children like Chambi. Chambi’s mother went on a 2-day journey to our partner centre. There, the team will begin clubfoot treatment on September 15. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $935 to fund Chambi's clubfoot repair. After treatment, Chambi will be able to walk comfortably and wear shoes with ease when the time comes. Chambi's mother says, “It is my wish for my daughter to be healthy and okay, free from any kind of disability, I wish she gets the best treatment that will make her have a normal childhood.”
