Sok is a rice farmer from Cambodia. He has one son, two daughters, and ten grandchildren. He likes to go to the local pagoda.
Five months ago, Sok developed a cataract in his right eye, causing him blurred vision, photophobia, and irritation. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Sok learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, he traveled for two and a half hours seeking treatment. On June 7, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his right eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $211 procedure.
He says, “I want to be able to visit my daughter and son in Phnom Penh. I hope I can see better so I can recognize my relatives’ faces.”
