Soeung is a 61-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. He has two sons, three daughters, and enjoys planting vegetables in his free time.
When he was twenty years old, Soeung had an ear infection. This infection caused the tympanic membrane, or the ear drum, in his right ear to perforate. For this reason, Soeung experiences swelling, pain, discharge, hearing loss, and tinnitus. He cannot hear clearly and has difficulty communicating well with others.
Soeung traveled to our medical partner’s care center to receive treatment. On September 4th, he will undergo a myringoplasty procedure in his right ear. During this procedure, surgeons will close the perforation. Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is requesting $423 to fund this procedure. This covers medications, supplies, and inpatient care.
“I hope that after surgery, my ear infection will stop and I will be able to hear again and will not have anymore ear discharge.”
