Abdi is a 71-year-old farmer from Kenya. Abdi and his 21 children live in the informal settlements of Korogocho in Nairobi.
Abdi has been dealing with hearing problems since 2007, when he began to lose hearing in his left ear. He began to worry about how this might affect his work, and due to his partial hearing loss, Abdi has a hard time participating in discussions. Finally, in January of this year, Abdi sought help through our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, where he was given ear drops and advised by the audiologist to get hearing aids.
On May 30, Abdi will be given hearing aids. He is requesting $712 to fund the hearing aids, as he cannot afford them himself.
“I want to actively participate in conversations and would wish to have the hearing aids fitted,” Abdi says.
