Ekyariyenda is a tailor from Uganda. She is a single mother to three children, all still studying. Each of her children has a different father but none of them are supportive, so she raises them on her own. They are all still studying with the first one in senior four and the others still in primary schools. Ekyarikunda earns a living as a tailor making sweaters.
Since three years ago, Ekyariyenda has been experiencing lower abdominal pain and abnormal discharge. She has been diagnosed with uterine fibroids. She needs to undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $208 to fund Ekyariyenda’s surgery. On February 13th, she will undergo gynecological surgery at our medical partner’s care center. Once recovered, Ekyariyenda will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain.
Ekyarikunda says, “I hope all will be well after my surgery.”

Ekyariyenda underwent a hysterectomy.
Ekyariyenda successfully underwent a total abdominal hysterectomy treatment due to multiple large uterine myomas. She has responded well to the treatment and is now feeling much better. She and her doctors expect a full recovery after discharge. Ekyariyenda was advised on proper hygiene and to have a well-nourishing diet for a quicker recovery.
Ekyariyenda says, “Thanks so much for having supported my surgery. Had it not been by your support, I would have remained with this pain forever. And once I have regained energy again, I hope to continue with tailoring so as to take good care of my children. May God bless you.”
