Mengly is a 36-year-old farmer from Cambodia. He has three brothers and two sisters. In his free time, Mengly likes to learn how to repair motorbikes, listen to music, and go on Facebook.
In February, Mengly fell out of a tree at a height of about 15 meters, which caused fractures of his spine and right ankle. He went to Thailand where doctors performed an open reduction and internal fixation procedure on his ankle, stabilizing the fracture with hardware in order to promote healing. As it is difficult and painful for Mengly to walk, surgical removal of the hardware has been recommended.
Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is requesting $214 to cover the cost of Mengly’s hardware removal. The procedure is scheduled to take place on June 29 and, once completed, will hopefully help Mengly walk comfortably again.
