Sixbeth is an only child, being raised in Tanzania by his single mother. His mother sells vegetables at the local market. This enables her to provide for her son, but it limits her to only the basic needs. Sixbeth is a friendly and playful boy who loves playing football. He enjoys painting and learning about numbers.
When Sixbeth was one year old, he accidentally dipped his left hand into a pot of hot porridge and sustained severe burns. The accident left him with a deformed left hand which he cannot use to carry out his day-to-day activities because his fingers are webbed together. His parents tried to seek treatment for him to help correct the fingers, but the surgery was not successful. Through community partners, Sixbeth’s parents learned about ALMC (The Plaster House). They reached out and were informed about the plastics camp this October. Sixbeth is now at the center, ready to receive treatment. The mother is asking for help for her son to get the required surgery that will help correct his left hand.
Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Sixbeth receive treatment. On October 19th, surgeons at their care center will perform a burn contracture release surgery to help him use his left hand again easily. Now, his family needs help to fund this $639 procedure.
Sixbeth’s mother says, “It always hurts to see my son want to hold something but fail because of his hand.”
