Last year, Malis burned her left hand with cooking fuel. She developed a burn scar contracture that limits the use of her hand and makes her a target for teasing by her peers.
Malis wants to have a normal hand. She is in 5th grade and dreams of being a teacher when she grows up. Her favorite color is yellow, and she loves playing with her friends when she’s not helping her parents and sister on their farm.
Malis and her family traveled 3 hours to be seen at Children’s Surgical Centre. They’re hopeful she will receive burn contracture release surgery and regain full use of her hand. In rural Cambodia, the $300 price tag of this surgery is much more than most families can reasonably pay. Let’s help Malis recover from this accident and move forward with her life!
