Turyatemba is a 40-year-old man from Uganda. He is married and the father of six children. He has four daughters and three sons. Three of his children are currently in school, while the other three are still too young to begin attending school. Turyatemba and his wife are both farmers.
About ten years ago, Turyatemba developed intermittent right inguinal swelling. In 2016, he started to experience pain whenever he worked or walked long distances. As a result, Turyatemba decided to visit our medical partner’s care center. There, Turyatemba was diagnosed with a right inguinal hernia. If not treated, Turyatemba may sustain tissue damage due to hernia twisting and blocking.
On July 26, surgeons at our medical partner’s care center will perform a hernia repair surgery on Turyatemba. The $249 requested by our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, will cover the full cost of the procedure, including supplies, labs, medication, and surgeon fees. After surgery, Turyatemba hopes to have peace of mind and resume farming.
