Rosette is an 18-year-old married woman who recently gave birth to her first child. Around the same time as her conception, she developed a large mass on the right side of her neck that has gotten progressively larger over time. In addition to being quite painful, the mass has also made it difficult for her to eat solid food and sleep.
Rosette visited our medical partner, The Kellermann Foundation, for an evaluation and treatment. She is scheduled to undergo surgery to remove the mass on May 9, and is requesting $196 to cover the total cost of the procedure.
The mass in her neck has been so painful lately that she hasn’t been able to help her husband farm. She is excited to get back to work after she heals from surgery.
“I give a lot of thanks to all the donors for helping me,” says Rosette. “My husband and I could not afford this surgery on our own. It is a blessing.”

Rosette underwent mass removal surgery.
When Rosette underwent surgery for the mass on her neck, the surgeon found several masses adhered together, which appeared to be lymph nodes. He removed as much as he safely could and took a biopsy, which he sent to the regional lab for histology. There still is extensive swelling from the surgery, but that should reduce and Rosette will be more comfortable. If the sample shows cancer, Rosette will be able to access cancer treatment for free from the regional health center in Mbarara. The hospital is now waiting for the results of the testing.
“I thank the hospital and the donors for the help I have received,” says Rosette. “I am worried about the results of the test, but hopefully God will protect me.”
