Rovney is a two-year-old boy from Haiti. He lives in the north of the country with his parents and several older siblings. Both of his parents are currently seeking work. He is very close to his mother and loves spending time with her.
Rovney, who also has Down Syndrome, was born with a cardiac condition called partial atrioventricular canal defect. This means that a hole exists between the four chambers of the heart. Blood leaks through this hole without first passing through the lungs to obtain oxygen, leaving him sickly and weak.
Rovney will fly to the Cayman Islands to receive treatment. On June 12, he will undergo cardiac surgery. This $17,000 surgery is subsidized by Have a Heart Cayman. Rovney’s family also needs help to fund the costs of surgery prep. The $1,500 bill covers labs, medicines, and checkup and followup appointments. It also supports passport obtainment and the social workers from our medical partner, Haiti Cardiac Alliance, who will accompany Rovney’s family overseas. Watsi is also fundraising for his transportation.
Rovney’s mother say, “I would like to say thank you to everyone who is helping my son get his surgery!”
