Nanei is an energetic 13-year-old girl in Tanzania who loves school and helping her mother around the house. “I always get fascinated when I see an airplane flying across our village,” says Nanei. “I would very much like to fly one when I grow up.”
When Nanei was younger she suffered a severe burn to her left arm which left her with a scar contracture. The contracture is caused by a tightening of the skin around the scar, making movement difficult to impossible as time goes on.
The doctors at African Mission Healthcare Foundation are requesting $505 to perform a Z-plasty, a common cosmetic surgery, which will release the tightness around the scar on her left armpit and enable Nanei to raise her arm to its full range. Let’s help Nanei get the surgery she needs so she can raise her hand in class and go on to soar through the sky in a plane!
