Noeun is a retired rice farmer and a widow. She shared with us that her husband was killed during the Khmer Rouge regime. She now lives with her niece who is a laborer and she likes to listen to the monks preaching on the radio.
Two year ago, Noeun developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her photophobia, itchiness, difficulty seeing in the dark, frequent eye tearing, and blurred vision. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Noeun learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for two and half hours with her niece seeking treatment. On January 11th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
“I hope after surgery I can see better and help my niece to take care of her children,” she told us.
