37-year-old Bunna is a labor union organizer from Cambodia and the father of two sons. When he isn’t busy with work or his family, Bunna has a wide variety of hobbies, from planting vegetables to listening to the news on the radio and watching action movies.
In September of last year, Bunna fell and dislocated his left elbow. He visited a practitioner of traditional Khmer medicine for treatment, but his arm did not heal properly. Now, over half a year later, Bunna’s elbow is still swollen and has difficulty bending.
Although Bunna would not normally be able to afford further treatment for his arm, his love of radio came in handy. While listening one day, he heard an announcement about subsidized medical services offered by our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC).
Bunna will receive treatment at CSC on March 1. Doctors will perform an open reduction internal fixation procedure on his left elbow, surgically aligning his bones and securing them in place with a screw, rod, or other device. We can sponsor this operation, as well as the associated lab tests and two-week hospital stay, for $411.
Let’s make sure Bunna can return as soon as possible to an active life playing with his children and cultivating his garden.
