Sojet is a six-year-old first grader living with his family in Cambodia. He has two siblings: a sister and a brother. Sojet enjoys playing outside, spending time with his mom, and reading books.
Sojet was born with a syndactyly - a condition that leaves certain fingers conjoined - on his left hand. His left ring finger and middle finger are currently connected. This makes it really difficult for Sojet to perform normal functions, like holding objects in his hand.
Luckily, there is a way to correct the syndactyly: with skin graft surgery. Sojet traveled for three hours with his mom to visit Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC) to receive treatment. His family needs financial assistance to cover the cost of the $321 procedure.
After surgery and a healing period, Sojet will have full use of his left hand - with five separate fingers - for the first time in his life. His mother is really happy that he is going to receive treatment, and says that Sojet will head back to school soon.
