Magezi is a 5-year-old boy from Uganda who was brought to the hospital by his mother. He has had inguinal swelling for more than three years, with on and off pain especially when he is playing. His mother shared that he complains of a full stomach most of the time and his appetite has been affected for some time now delaying his development milestones.
Unfortunately, his mother had not sought treatment due to limited funds. She was referred to Watsi’s Medical Partner Care Center Nyakibale Hospital by a close friend. There he had scanning done and has been diagnosed with a left inguinal hernia that requires herniorrhaphy surgery.
Magezi’s also has a younger sister and their family is from western Uganda. His mother works on their farm to make ends meet while their father operates a small retail shop to compliment his wife’s earnings. Magezi loves playing football but due to the pain, he is unable to do this often. His mother is appealing for financial assistance towards his surgery.
Fortunately, on October 13th, he will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner’s care center. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $230 to fund Magezi’s surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently.
Magezi’s parents shared: “we pray that may God bless you as you plan to support our child out of the current pain he is in.”
