Dorcas is a 52-year-old woman who lives in Kenya. She is very faithful and involved in her church.
Since 2011, her social life has been affected by abnormal bleeding, which has been leading to body weakness and anemia. Dorcas has been going to different hospitals and getting medicines, but they only provide temporary relief.
Finally, she came to Nazareth Hospital, where our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, works. A scan showed that she has uterine fibroids. Fibroids are painful tissue growths that cause the bleeding she’s been experiencing.
To treat her fibroids, Dorcas needs a $718 hysterectomy, which will remove her uterus and cervix, stopping the bleeding. Without care, she may end up with severe anemia, which could cause heart problems.
Dorcas is scheduled for surgery on March 22. She does not work, so she needs our help to raise money for surgery.
“I like preaching and helping people spiritually. I really hope that I can be helped by Watsi so that I can go back to my passion and to take care of my children,” Dorcas says.
