Yoeun is a 66-year-old farmer from Cambodia. Yoeun is married with two sons, three daughters, and nine grandchildren. She enjoys spending time at the pagoda for ceremonies and to listen to the monks pray.
One month ago, Yoeun developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her blurred vision, photophobia, and irritation. She has difficulty seeing things clearly and recognizing people.
When Yoeun learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for two and a half hours by taxi seeking treatment. On June 1st, doctors will perform phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
“I hope I can see better after surgery so I can go back to doing housework and planting vegetables,” Yoeun said.
Yoeun’s daughter said, “I see how difficult things are for my mom and I hope this surgery will make her life easier. She works so hard.”
