Jonah is a brave eight-year-old boy who lives with his parents and five older siblings in a remote part of northern Kenya. Recently, Jonah fell ill with spinal tuberculosis, an extremely dangerous illness that has caused him to lose control of his lower limbs and the ability to walk. If Jonah’s condition goes untreated he could be left paralyzed from the waist down.
Jonah’s parents are eager for their son to recover but they cannot afford the cost of his spinal surgery. His mother stays at home to care for Jonah and his five siblings while his father tends to the few animals that they own. Kind members in Jonah’s community brought him to the hospital when he first became sick, but they don’t have the resources to pay for Jonah’s remaining medical bills.
With $1500 in support from members of a global community, Jonah will receive spinal surgery to repair his spine. With this operation, doctors expect that Jonah will have a significant chance of regaining the ability to walk in the coming months. Together, we can ensure that Jonah’s condition is reversed and he is able to regain the use of his legs so that he can return to school and the childhood activities he enjoys.
