Sun is 75 years old, and lives with his wife and four sons in Cambodia.
According to our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), “Sun spends his free time reading the bible and joining in ceremonies at the pagoda.”
Three months ago, Sun developed a cataract in his right eye. This causes him blurred vision and tearing. Cataracts are a clouding of the eye’s natural lens, leading to dim vision and blurriness.
As the most common cause of partial blindness, cataracts naturally continue to worsen if left untreated.
For $150, Sun will undergo cataract surgery in his right eye. This operation involves removing the affected lens and replacing it with a clear, artificial implant. Cataract surgery is widely practiced and very effective—Sun will experience restored vision the day of his procedure.
“I hope after treatment I can see everything clearly as normal again so I can read any letters and see the faces of everyone clearly,” says Sun. “I hope I can easily go anywhere outside.”
