At just 15 years old Judith is pregnant with her first child. Judith had been attending school until recently when she had to defer her studies due to her pregnancy. Judith lives with her sister who makes and sells soap to provide an income for the whole household.
Young and inexperienced, Judith admits that she doesn’t know anything about how to care for herself and her child during pregnancy and beyond. The Lwala maternal health program has helped her to prepare by making a health care plan for Judith and a birth plan for her baby. This is a great start for Judith but she still cannot afford to deliver her baby in the Lwala hospital.
Like all mothers, Judith hopes for a safe delivery and continued access to medical care for herself and her new born. However, unlike many moms, Judith also has the added challenge of returning to school to complete her studies and build a future for herself and her baby. With help from Watsi- we know she can do it.
With just $215, Judith will have access to health professionals that will deliver her baby in a safe and clean environment and provide the post-natal care that mom and baby need.
