Caleb is a playful and talkative 3-year-old boy from Kenya. He is an only child, and his mother works as a casual laborer at a local hotel. Currently, due to his clubfoot, Caleb cannot stand without assistance. He can roll over, but cannot yet walk or crawl. Caleb has clubfoot in both feet, a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape. This can cause difficulty walking and even wearing shoes. Fortunately, Caleb traveled to visit our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, for treatment. There, surgeons will perform clubfoot repair surgery on March 14th. African Mission Healthcare Foundation is requesting $1,286 to fund Caleb's clubfoot repair. After treatment, he will be able to stand, walk and continue playing with other children. “I am appealing to people of goodwill to help my son undergo surgery to gain strength and walk on his feet,” Caleb's mother said.

Sean is a 66-year-old rice farmer from Kampong Cham province in Cambodia. She is married with one son, two daughters, and eight adorable grandchildren. Currently, Sean and her husband live with her youngest daughter, who is also a rice farmer. When Sean finishes working for the day, she enjoys listening to the monks pray on the radio or going to the pagoda in her local village. Five years ago, Sean developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her to experience blurry vision, irritation, and tearing. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so she cannot go places alone. When Sean learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), she traveled for two hours seeking treatment. On April 24th, doctors will perform cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. CSC is requesting $253 to fund this procedure. Sean's family contributed $50 to her care. Sean shared, "I hope I can see well after surgery. I can go to the pagoda on my own and take care of my grandchildren well."

Ian is a 5-year-old boy from the valley of Elgeyo Marakwet county in Kenya. He is the second of three children. He loves playing football and helping his mother gather firewood and clean the house. His mother takes care of the house and family while his father tills land for planting. Ian's father is currently working in a village far away from their home in order to earn money to provide for the family. Ian recently came to the hospital in a lot of pain because he had fallen and hurt his right arm. X-rays revealed that his arm was broken near the elbow joint. He needs surgery in order to stabilize the broken bone. Since the arm was so swollen, Ian was admitted to the hospital; a splint was applied and the arm is elevated to reduce the swelling. Because Ian is very young, he needs surgery so that his arm will continue to grow properly. He is right-handed and currently does not have use of the arm or hand. Fortunately, on March 21st, surgeons at our partner African Mission Healthcare will perform surgery to help heal Ian's broken arm. He and his family need help raising $853 to fund Ian's surgery. Ian's mother shared, “My son is in so much pain, and I feel like transferring it to myself. I am worried because he is a right-handed person, and he has injured his right hand. I sincerely have no option and no funds to help my son. Please help him so that he may be able to go back to school.”
