Immaculate is a primary school teacher. in Uganda. Her husband also works as a primary school teacher, but they have both been laid off due to the COVID-19 outbreak in the country. They have five children, with their firstborn is 15-years-old in class six and their last born 8-months-old. Immaculate shared that she enjoys listening to the radio during her free time.
Early this year, Immaculate started feeling pain in her back and later developed minor swelling that started progressively increasing in size. She had hoped it would disappear on its own, but it has become very painful, especially whenever she does household work like washing clothes and farming. She visited the hospital of our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH). Upon review, the doctors recommended surgery to address the risk that the lipoma may lead to chronic pain and ilimit her productivity.
On January 4th, AMH’s care center surgeons will remove the mass. Now, Immaculate needs help to raise $145 to fund her procedure.
Immaculate shared, “I hope to live an improved quality of life after surgery, and I will be able to proceed with my daily duties, especially teaching, so that I can take care of my family.”
