Sovannavin is a first grade student from Cambodia. He is the youngest of thee siblings, and likes to paint and watch videos on You Tube.
When he was three, Sovannavin had an ear infection. This infection caused the tympanic membrane, or the ear drum, in his right ear to perforate. For this reason, Sovannavin experiences ear discharge, itchiness, and hearing loss. He has a difficult time focusing in class and cannot understand or communicate with others.
Sovannavin traveled to our medical partner’s care center to receive treatment. On May 9, he will undergo a myringoplasty procedure in his right ear. During this procedure, surgeons will close the perforation. Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is requesting $423 to fund this procedure. This covers medications, supplies, and inpatient care.
His mother says, “I hope that after my son’s surgery, he will be able to hear again and I won’t have to worry about his ear infection.”
