Sophal is a 72-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia who is married and has four daughters and four grandchildren. He likes to listen to monks pray on the radio, watch the news and boxing on TV, and go to the pagoda in his free time.
About one year ago, Sophal developed a cataract in his left eye, which has caused him to experience blurred vision and tearing. It is difficult for him to see things clearly, work, and go anywhere by himself comfortably.
Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is requesting $211 to fund small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in Sophal’s left eye. Sophal is scheduled to receive this treatment on June 19, and the procedures will hopefully restore the function of Sophal’s former natural lens, allowing him to see clearly again.
