Immaculate is a 17-year-old woman from Uganda. She and her husband, Amon, are farmers, growing maize, potatoes, beans, and other local crops. She is an active member of her church and enjoys singing in the choir. After working on the farm, she enjoys weaving mats for her home while listening to gospel music on the radio. She also likes spending time with her mother, Gloria, and other women in the village, sharing stories and lessons amongst themselves.
Immaculate is currently expecting her first child—a daughter. It is a high-risk pregnancy with many complications, including pre-eclampsia, severe malaria, and prolonged labor. She requires a C-section in order to ensure their safety.
Our medical partner, The Kellerman Foundation, is requesting $258 to cover the cost of the surgery. This will be added to the $7 that Immaculate and her family have been able to contribute. She is scheduled to undergo surgery on April 25 at our medical partner’s care center, Bwindi Community Hospital. Immaculate is looking forward to meeting her child and experiencing motherhood.
