Macky and her husband work hard; he is a farmer, and she sells clothes in the local market. Because of a previous pregnancy in which the baby didn’t survive, Macky is adamant about having a safe delivery.
For this pregnancy, Macky has been included in Lwala Hospital’s maternal health program. She will attend prenatal visits at the hospital and receive community health worker trainings on nutrition, pregnancy risk factors and micro savings. When she is ready to give birth, she will have her delivery at Lwala Community Hospital. After she goes home, Macky and her baby will receive a post-natal check up to make sure everything is going well.
$215 will fund this entire program for Macky and her baby. Through the home visits, Macky says she is learning “the importance of having safe, clean drinking water and how to save small amounts of money to prepare for the baby and my delivery.” Macky also says, “I am praying to have a safe delivery in the Lwala facility.” Let’s help make it happen for her!
