Non is a 60-year-old rice farmer who is married with one son, two daughters, and nine grandchildren. She enjoys listening to the radio during her free time.
One year ago, Non developed cataracts in both eyes. A cataract is a condition in which the lens of the eye becomes progressively cloudy, causing blurry vision, eye discharge, and photophobia (extreme sensitivity to light). It is difficult for Non to recognize faces, do any type of work, and go places on her own.
Non traveled three hours with her husband to reach our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), for treatment. On May 22, Non will receive cataract surgery to replace her lenses with artificial ones. CSC is requesting $292 to help fund the surgery. After this procedure, Non will see clearly again and be able to enjoy her favorite activities once more.
