Chisomo is a five-year-old from Malawi. He lives with his parents and seven-month-old sister, and likes playing with other kids in his family’s village.
Chisomo has had an inguinal hernia since he was very young. This is a protrusion of a portion of intestines through a tear in the abdominal wall, and can cause pain and discomfort. Chisomo’s mother notices that he often stops playing sooner than other children due to the discomfort this condition causes.
For $613 surgeons will reposition the protruding portion of intestine and repair the tear in Chisomo’s abdominal wall. This will also cover the costs of any additional post-operational care at the hospital, and soon after his operation Chisomo will be free of pain.
Chisomo and his mom are looking forward to him enjoying childhood without the pain caused by his hernia. Chisomo is especially excited to start school!
