Tumubwiine is a small-scale farmer from Uganda. She is married with three children. Her husband is a casual laborer.
One year ago, Tumubwiine began to experience troubling symptoms, including difficulty breathing and fatigue. She was diagnosed with a toxic goiter. She needs surgery to prevent her symptoms from getting worse.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Tumubwiine receive treatment. She is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on October 16 at our medical partner’s care center. Surgeons will remove all or part of her thyroid gland. This procedure will cost $240, and she and her family need help raising money.
Tumubwiine says, “I will continue with cultivation when done with surgery as I will be relieved of this condition.”
