Paulina is a talented young girl with dreams of becoming a singer. She is the second born in a family of six children from Tanzania. Unfortunately, Paulina is unable to use her left hand due to a burn scar contracture (tightened skin) on her wrist.
Paulina loves singing in her school choir and enjoys drawing. Her hardworking parents just earn enough to pay for their children’s school fees. Paulina’s mother works in a kiosk and her father is a casual laborer.
A contracture release surgery and skin graft will give Paulina a functional hand again. Together, we can raise the $1,080 needed to help Paulina!

Paulina received surgery so she can use her hand again.
The operation went well and Paulina is doing great!
In order to give her a more functional hand, the doctors had to remove Paulina’s small finger. After splinting and exercises, she is expected to have a much more mobile and functional hand. Paulina is a talented young girl with dreams of becoming a singer.
“I’m so amazed at how straight my hand is!” Paulina told our medical partners. She cannot wait to return to choir, where she leads the children in signing, and to start using her hand again.
