Kyogabirwe is a 47-year-old small scale farmer from Uganda who grows crops for home consumption. Her husband is a taxi motorcyclist, and they have eight children.
Kyogabirwe has had a swelling on her neck for about 20 years. This causes her to have difficulty swallowing, speaking, and breathing. She was diagnosed with a goiter, and surgery was recommended.
Fortunately, with the help of our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, Kyogabirwe is scheduled to receive treatment on September 19. She will undergo a thyroidectomy to treat the goiter. Our medical partner is requesting $240 to fund treatment. She says, “I hope to be able to sing again; I was a great singer. After treatment I will continue farming for my family’s survival.”
